Kourkoumelata - Kefalonia
Kourkoumelata is one of the
prettiest villages on the island, with many villas and gardens
with beautiful flowers. The village also has a stadium and a
Cultural Centre, which were built according to Swiss standards by
the benefactor G. Vergotis.
On the way from Kourkoumelata to Argostoli you
pass the village of Metaxata, where in 1823 the English poet Lord
Byron took residence for few months. In his honor his bust was
erected in front of his former house. |
